4(y + 2) = 32 4 × y = 4y 4 × 2 = 8 4y + 8 = 32 - 8 4y = 24 ÷ 4 y = 6 So y would equal 6. I hope this helps!

so first you are going to do the numbers in the parenthesis first so it would be 4 multiplied by y so it's now 4y. then the same for the 2 so 4 times 2 is 8. then you would put those together and get 4y+8=32 then you want to subtract 8 from 8 and 8 from 32 and now you have 4y=24 then you would divide 4 by 4 and 24 by 4 cross off both fours and 24 divided by 4 is your answer which equals 6. I hope i put this i a way that you could understand it but i like the one right above mine because he/she shows you what to do and put it in a good way. hope this helps.
