During the process of classical conditioning, the neutral stimulus (NS) is converted into the conditioned stimulus - b. The reason for this is the fact that at the beginning we have a stimulus which has no relation to us, after the period of training we learn to react towards this neutral stimulus which is at the time then a conditioned stimulus for us.
