The 25.75 price should subtract 3.15 because the inverse of addition is subtraction, which is 22.60. The inverse works in reverse too. So add one dollar which is 23.60. Divide by 2, 60 divided by 2 is 30, 23 divided by 2 is not even so it would have 0.5 left over, or 50 cents. 0.5 times 2 is 1. Subtracting 1 is 22, and 22 is divided by 2 is 11. So we have 11.30. Except we have a 0.50 left over. So add 0.50. You have $11.80.
