How does the idea of the afterlife differ in ancient greek and hindu cultures?

The greeks believe that you go to hades or the underworld after death. There, you are given a punishment to "live" out for the rest of eternity. Either that or you go to a limbo-ish nothingness. The hindu culture believes in reincarnation or rebirth. Here, what you do in your past lives effects who you are today. For example, if I was a killer in this life, in my next life, I might be a slug, or a really ugly beggar
