They are all examples of Newton's First Law, which is that an object in motion unless acted on by an outside force. A) The ball stays at rest because the forces are balanced and there is no force exerted that makes the ball roll in the x direction. B) The ball gathers speed and accelerates because of an outside force, gravity. C) The ball accelerates because of an outside force, gravity. D) The ball slows down because of force of friction from the grass. If I really had to pick one the safest would be D) because the ball is in its motion until the force of friction from the grass opposes it and changes its motion.
